Hello W.H.E.N. Families,
What an amazing, exciting, and different year we have ahead of us. We have a wonderful new Wasatch Home Educator Network Board that I’d like to introduce to you. Then, I’d like to share with you a few teasers towards our coming year.
Our board members:
Michelle Caringella – President
I’m thrilled to be able to take on the challenge this year is bringing. I’ve served with W.H.E.N. Since 2017. I have loved volunteering with W.H.E.N., it truly has enriched my family’s life.
I have an amazing son that I have been blessed to homeschool since he was in first grade. He has high functioning autism and a love of life that inspires us! We both have made some of our dearest friends through W.H.E.N. I look forward to being of service to all of you and getting to know you.
Cassie Davidson – Vice President
As a mother of 5 children, ranging in ages from 15 to 2, our house is seldom quiet! Our homeschooling journey began in 2016, and we love the opportunity to provide an education uniquely suited to our children’s collection of strengths and weaknesses. My hope is to instill in my family a life-long love of learning with more positive influence, more educational opportunities, and more time together.
Katie Taylor – Secretary
Katie Watson is a mother to 3 young kids, ages 7, 5, and 3. This will be her 2 yr homeschooling. Katie’s family recently moved to Utah County 2 years ago and she really wanted to get involve with the homeschool community so she joined the W.H.E.N. Board! She looks forward to helping on the Board and getting to know more homeschool families.
Danielle Huff – Field Trips
Danielle Huff loves field trips, reading, traveling, swimming, being outdoors, learning, and dancing with her beautiful family. She is grateful that homeschooling allows for so much family together time! Danielle is a homeschooling veteran of 13 years and loves to inspire learning. As the owner of 4D Learning Academy, she is always on the lookout for the best of the best to inspire homeschoolers. She loves sharing successful ideas with other homeschool families so everyone can succeed!
Maggie Anderson – Field Trips
I’m Maggi, a mom of 3 originally from New York City. I’ve made Utah my home now for the past 10 years, and we love it here! We’ve been homeschooling “since the dawn of time,” just about, and love the freedom it brings. In my spare time I enjoy reading, sewing, bike riding, and playing with my dopey dog.
Nakita Ellis – Academic Events
My name is Nakita Ellis. I have five kids and have homeschooled for the last three years. I love camping, hiking, eating good food, and learning. I am currently a student myself and work as a respiratory therapist at a hospital in Salt Lake where I learn something new every time I work.
This fantastic board is working together to prepare an AMAZING year for W.H.E.N.
With Covid 19 affect so many things, we are not going to let it stop us from doing some incredible things. We know this year will be very fluid and very different. But it is going to be so exciting!
While we are still in the planning and organizing stages. We have got some wonderful things in the works. We are going to be having an on going family and group activities that we think you are going to love.
Some of those things we are looking at are:
- A family group challenges throughout the year with a hopeful meetup at the end of the year
- Online activity options for the youth
- An online Homeschool Panel group to help new homeschoolers answer questions, develop confidence and create a network of friendships and resources
- Mentor nights
- Facilitate tutoring options for families
- As well as our Academic Events
- Lots more to come…

I am thrilled to announce we have plans in the works for a Not Back to School Panel this year!!!
