Is registration open for the spelling bee? The academic events page says it was going to open November 1, but I can’t find a link to register or an event for it. Also, could I get some clarification on the words? Usually they have been organize according to grade, and it was very clear which words would be used in which bee. They’re sorted differently now, in groups called “one bee,” “two bee,” and “three bee.” Does that coincide with the junior A and B bees and the senior bee? Also, is there a date for the bee yet? Thanks!

    Hi Jody!

I will try to answer your questions as best I can. We just got a new Academic Events Chair and we are working to get a building scheduled for the bee on either February 7 or 8. As soon as we can get it scheduled, we will open up registration. We are sorry for the delay.

Scripps changed the study lists this year and do not have them broken out by grade levels. This is the info that we have from their website: “In general, we recommend lower elementary students begin with level One Bee, upper elementary students begin with level Two Bee, and middle school students begin with level Three Bee.”
You can see that it is rather vague but I think we will start the Junior A bee at the One Bee level and the Junior B bee at the Two Bee Level and the Senior Bee at the Three Bee level. This could change however. I will make sure to discuss it with the Academic Chair soon.

Sorry for all the delay and confusion.

Now that some time has gone by, can you confirm this is how the spelling bee will work? I just signed up my son and need to know what words he should be studying. Thanks!
