Scavenger hunts can be a great adventure for all ages of kids. Get your creative hat on, make it themed or a random list for your scavenger hunters to find. Then you have to get your sneaky hat on and hide the clues for a treasure or the things they need to find. Then do it as a family, be stealthy, until the giggles start. (It’s even better if they have glow sticks to run around with!)

Flashlight Tag is a fun game. Basically “Hide and Seek” with flashlights. This is a great one for playing in the backyard. Establish your boundaries before you start, and make sure it’s in an area no one can be injured. If you have littles, it might be good to pair them with a parent or older sibling.

Designate your home base. If they are touching home base, they are safe. (But, remember, it’s no fun to hang out at home base the whole game.)

Then the fun begins. Everyone has a flashlight, but only the seeker’s is on.
If the seeker tags you with his light, you join his team, and your light gets turned on. Then you start seeking too. By the end of the game there is a whole lot of seekers and maybe they will find the last hider…or maybe the hider will make it to base!

Mazes can easily become a fun family tradition. Everyone can get that creative hat on and start planning it out. Depending on how big you want it to be, you can make it indoors or out. There are lots of things to use, string or yarn is a good start. Cardboard boxes can make it very interesting. I’ve even seen it done with clothes line and then hanging sheets. However you do it, you will have some fantastic memories.

Have you ever done a Flashlight Candy Hunt? This is so much fun! Keep those kids occupied, while someone gets busy hiding the candy. Hide that candy…everywhere! You can do it inside or out, just don’t let your goblins see you do it. Then hand out the flashlight, grabs your pumpkin buckets or pillow case. Then it’s ready set go!! It wont take long before the first candy is found and all hunting really gets into swing.
You thought hunting eggs was fun, hunting by flashlight takes it to a whole new level!
